Holly Sawyer

Hello! I have lived in Bulloch County for most of my life and spent the last few years working as a Registered Nurse at EGRMC since I graduated from Georgia Southern. I love spending time in nature and enjoying the great outdoors. I strive to advocate for our community as we continue to grow and live off of the land around us. We must be great stewards of the environment, and keep our home beautiful!

Loren Mathews

Loren Mathews grew up in Peachtree City (outside of Atlanta) but moved to Bulloch County with her Statesboro native husband in 2014. Loren earned her B.S. in Marine Science and Biology in 2005, her M.S. in Marine Affairs and Policy in 2007, and her Ph.D. in Aquatic Sciences in 2013. Dr. Mathews began teaching at Georgia Southern University in 2013 and is now a Senior Lecturer of Biology. Her research on the Georgia coast pertains to water flow and quality.

Dr. Mathews' passion for the sciences and environmental preservation extends into her work with local K-5 students, STEM teachers, scout groups, and nonprofits. She is also currently serving as the chair of the Environmental Preservation Committee of the Statesboro Service League.

LaDawndra Robbs

My passion for sustainability is grounded in choosing a healthy eating lifestyle.  I am an owner of a small business as a  hobbyist called “Pebbles Plants” where I teach young people and adults how to grow vegetables and houseplants by posting live videos on social media.  My passion for gardening started over twenty years ago while teaching elementary education in a school with a local garden planted on the school grounds.  I discovered a long-lasting love for teaching young people how to cook and grow healthy vegetables.  After moving to Statesboro I was able to obtain a ground plot for the last year at the Statesboro Community Garden and work with GSU 912 volunteers sharing how-to garden tips where I am affectionately called “Miss Pebbles”.  It warms my heart to help our community sustain a healthy lifestyle by eating fresh produce grown in your own backyard.  I am honored to serve on the KSBB Board.

Ellen Murphy

Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ellen has been a resident of Georgia for seven years, living in Statesboro for the past two.  With a degree in civil and environmental engineering, sustainability and community development are central to Ellen’s passions and work.  Through their engineering, nonprofit, and advocacy work, Ellen brings a breadth of service and leadership experience into serving this community.

Currently a doctoral student in clinical psychology at Georgia Southern University, Ellen is interested in encouraging holistic, communal wellness through KSBB.  In their free time, Ellen enjoys gardening, biking, and partaking in any activity that involves being outdoors!

Beverly Graham

I am very concerned about our environment and often frustrated that I can’t do much to change things. I believe that serving on the Advisory Board is a way that I can, in my small but meaningful way, make a difference. I also believe that the “look” of our community is so important as the area continues to grow and develop. Maintaining and enhancing our natural environment is an important first communication we sent to others to show our concern for our ‘home’.
